Occupational Therapist - Three Rivers - Herts Care Careers

Occupational Therapist

Location: Three Rivers

We want a lot for the people of Hertfordshire. We want them to have citizenship. To live not just to exist. As an occupational therapist, you’ll play a central role in making this a reality for people all across the county.

Whether you join the Adult Disability Service or the Older People Service, you’ll deliver the kind of person-centred expertise and support that brings independence, choice and control, as you carry out assessments of need, plan and deliver services, and review outcomes.

You will:

  • Bring significant expertise to complex and ambiguous cases
  • Use analytical skills and the occupational therapy process to assimilate information, inform assessment, decision making and intervention, supporting others to do the same
  • Complete support planning to ensure that outcomes identified at assessment are met through support, equipment, adaptations and enabling programmes
  • Act as the lead professional in safeguarding situations – both inter-agency and inter-professional
  • Assess and manage risk, intervening proportionately and ensuring people are protected from harm, while protecting their human rights
  • Address adversity and social exclusion, including circumstances such as poor health, poverty and inadequate living conditions
  • Act as the lead professional, where a person is severely constrained by social or family circumstances, and provide support to achieve independence and quality of life.

You will need:

  • An HCPC registration
  • An occupational therapist degree or diploma
  • A driving licence and ability to travel
  • Experience of working with adults or children in a health and social care setting.
  • Understanding of adult social care and legislation
  • For senior opportunities – experience of undertaking AMHP, moving and handling, practice education or equivalent
  • Safeguarding: Safeguarding children and adults is of utmost importance to Hertfordshire County Council. The Council requires employees to abide by legislation and best practice to enable Hertfordshire to achieve this. This role has been identified as requiring a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. For more information, visit Services for businesses, charities and other public bodies.
  • English Fluency: The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
  • Disability Confident: We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer and guarantee an interview to anyone disclosing a disability whose application meets the minimum criteria for the post.
